How do you prove or disprove this one, when we don’t know for a fact what UFOs are made of, and what they are capable of?
In 1990, Lev Ivanov – the man who lead the initial investigation into the incident – published a sensational article claiming he’d been ordered to censor some of his key findings. In particular, the unusual char marks on trees near where the bodies were found, which in Ivanov’s view “confirmed a source of heat ray” that had been purposefully aimed at some of the helpless hikers.
And burn marks at the top of trees could be markings from a forest fire or controlled burn from decades earlier. Or lighting strikes.
His article also alleged that floating balls of light and other weird phenomena had been reported over the Ural Mountains in February. Ivanov doesn’t mince his words, saying that, “based on the evidence gathered, the role of UFOs in this tragedy was quite obvious”.
I agree that it’s super sketchy that just ONE person started this theory, and it was for a book. When money gets involved people can’t be trusted to stick to the facts.
The thing that makes me side-eye this theory most is all the evidence to support it was brought forward later than the bulk of the evidence. If it is valid, why wouldn’t it have been discovered along with the other artifacts?
Instead of UFOs could the orbs and fires be due to the military? We’ll talk about that after a couple more of the fantastical theories.
